Beautiful and well-equipped house on a park in Zonnemaire. The spacious kitchen offers all possibilities for long dinners together. The house has a lovely garden and the canopy invites you to sit outside until late. At 5 minutes' walking distance you are already in the village centre of Zonnemaire where you will find a small restaurant with a terrace. At the entrance of the park there is also the possibility to have meals.
Located between Brouwershaven and Zierikzee, Zonnemaire lies in the corner of a dike and is a small agricultural and tourism village with about 750 inhabitants. The village itself has a small beach on the Grevelingen, the 'Haventje van Bommenede'; a windmill and a café-restaurant "d'Ouwe Smisse". There is a lot to do and visit on the island. Not to be missed are: the beach at the Westpunt; monument city Zierikzee; the forest of Westenschouwen and endless bicycle rides. The island of Schouwen-Duivenland used to consist of four separate islands. For those interested in history, visit the Watersnoodmuseum in Ouderkerk (Zonnemaire was located in a rare dry polder in 1953); the bunker complex de Punt near the Brouwersdam; Slot Moermond in Burgh or visit and climb the fat tower in Zierikzee. Veere, Goes and Middelburg are also nice towns even on a day when the sun shines a little less. You can enjoy the sea and the water on the Brouwersdam; in the marina at Bruinisse; on the Grevelingen with its various islands where you can moor a (rental) boat or on the dike at the Schelphoek. Cyclists can enjoy dike routes along the south side of the island, through the dike waters or over the Zeeland Bridge and Oosterscheldedam. Quiet undiscovered spots include: walking in the dunes, the lighthouse in Nieuw-Haamstede, the ring village of Dreischor, the fruit picking garden de Stelle in Ouderkerk and walking in the village of Schudddebeurs.

We wish you a warm welcome to our holiday home 'Sunnyvale' at Park Villetta in Zonnemaire. We named the house after the town of Sunnyvale in California, USA, of which we have fond memories and in which the 'sun' of Zonnemaire is also reflected. For many years, we and our two growing children enjoyed the cottage and its surroundings. And still do! Tasty food can be found in many places, for instance in Zierikzee and Renesse or at the many trendy beach bars. Close to home and within walking distance, you can eat really well at Hofstede Villetta. In July and August, Oscar and Wyona serve delicious three-course menus from their own kitchen. An evening of fine tasting with them is definitely not to be missed. In addition, you can have great meals at the aforementioned d'Ouwe Smisse in the village. Pancake restaurants can be found in Burgh and Ellemeet and the tastiest wines can be tasted and bought at wine farm De Schorre in Dreischor and you can eat well there too. Happy holidays, Johan, Mischa, Phileine and Max
Zierikzee has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Many of the historic buildings have been preserved, including old city gates, churches and warehouses. The townscape still exudes the atmosphere of days gone by. Go exploring on a city walk. End this day at the brown café De Gekroonde Suikerbiet, located on Zierikzee's new harbour, also known as De Biet. De Biet was named the best café in the Netherlands by Misset Horeca in November 2017
