Less than a kilometre walk away is the sheepfold, which also has a small tavern with fun facts. Coffee, tea and other drinks are served. It is run by volunteers. Just across the border in Germany sits the Haarhmühle. You can sit there on the terrace or inside by the open fire in the middle of the restaurant. The accompanying water mill is almost always open for viewing. All year round, you can play on the large adventure playground with a large slide, climbing castle, motor scooters and bicycles. Highly recommended! It is also a great starting point for a lovely walk where you can regularly encounter Scottish Highlanders.
Several places to visit in the region include Bad Bentheim in Germany, Oldenzaal and the town of Ootmarsum. Nordhorn, located in the beautiful Grafschaft Bentheim, is an ideal place for those who want to combine nature, culture and conviviality.
