Lake Edersee is a large reservoir, near the town of Waldeck. Both are really worth a visit. Nice to combine with Waldeck Castle. This is a castle located on a wooded rocky hill just west of the Hessian town of Waldeck. The castle is located in the northern part of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park on the northern shore of Lake Edersee. The castle can be reached from the town via a road.
Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe near Kassel is a large Baroque-style park that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It houses the famous statue of Hercules and an impressive waterfall, and it is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike.
Kassel is also a beautiful city to visit. As the home of the world art exhibition 'Documenta', Kassel is not only one of the most important art addresses in Europe, but also one of the greenest cities in Germany: its green surface area takes up 60 percent. This makes Kassel a true oasis for anyone looking for peace and relaxation: because here, in the midst of greenery, between the Habicht Forest, Reinhardswald and Kaufunger Forest, health and wellness take centre stage with the Kassel Bad Wilhelmshöhe thermal salt baths. Also very famous, of course, are the Grimm brothers, known for their fairy tale collections, lived and worked in Kassel for a while. There is even a museum, the Brüder Grimm-Museum, dedicated to their life and work in the city.

A 3-minute walk away is a village butcher's shop, Landfleischerei Döring. Here you will find traditional 'Wurst-und wildfleischspezialitäten' which are cold cuts and other specialties with meat. Everything is homemade and from the region, highly recommended. In the village further away (Naumburg) a 4-minute drive (3.6km) you will find a large supermarket, bakery, pizzeria, tourist-info, butcher, raiffeisenbank and pharmacy. Cafe Hasenacker is slightly outside the village of Naumburg, but is worth a visit; it has the most delicious and largest pieces of cake
Nature lovers beware - visit the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park. This is a national park in the northern part of Hesse, half an hour's drive from this fine holiday home. It was established in 2004 and covers an area of about 57,100 hectares. The park is named after the Kellerwald and the Edersee, a large reservoir. The park is known for its varied flora and fauna. It is home to ancient beech forests, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The national park has visitor centres that provide information on the natural and cultural history of the park. These centres often offer educational programmes and exhibitions to teach visitors all about the park. There are also numerous hiking trails in the park, well worth a visit. Some trails lead to viewpoints with stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including red deer, wild boar and several bird species
