Discover this detached chalet on the edge of a small chalet park with unobstructed mountain views. It offers atmospheric Alpine character and plenty of space and luxury. The ground floor houses a spacious living room with wood-burning stove, wooden floors and direct access to a sunny terrace, child-friendly (safe) and complete with barbecue. On a gently sloping hillside with stunning views in the picturesque village of Donnersbachwald, sits the small-scale chalet park. The location is ideal, close to the valley station of the Riesneralm and yet in the middle of nature on a babbling brook. In winter, the Donnersbachtal turns into a fairytale world, with 2 snow-sure ski areas (Riesneralm and Planneralm) offering 50 km of slopes together. Planneralm, Styria's highest ski village, and the child-friendly Riesneralm, offer entertainment for every skier. Looking for variety? Try the natural toboggan run at Mörsbachalm or the nearby cross-country trails. In summer, this location offers a unique holiday experience with activities such as 3D archery, the E-Enduro Bikepark, fly-fishing, the Gipfel pool at 1900 metres above sea level and there is a beautiful swimming pond about 2 km from the park. A heated swimming pool on the mountain peak of Riesnerkrispen offers spectacular 360-degree views. With these versatile possibilities, this chalet is the perfect base for an adventure holiday in any season.

Zomer augustus 2024 Wat hebben wij genoten in het chalet Karibu. Mooi hoog gelegen aan de rand van het kleinschalige park met ongeveer 35 huisjes we konden veel buiten zitten op de veranda waar je uit kijkt op de bergen en een kabbelend beekje. Ons huisje had veel privacy Andere huisjes hadden dit minder omdat de tuintjes aan elkaar gelegen waren. ‘s avonds koelt het erg af omdat het wat hoger gelegen ligt. Chalet karibu was echt van alle gemakken voorzien. Een grote sauna met daarnaast een dubbele doucheruimte Boven waren er nog 2 badkamers. Zo fijn! In de keuken kun je ook echt alles vinden. Echt over compleet. Mixer, blender, magnetron, oven, bestek veel keuze. Mooie rustige omgeving om te wandelen. Als je meer toeristische wil zitten moet je wel meer richting Zell am see. Met de auto is het ongeveer 1,5 - 2 uur rijden van Donnersbachwald.

Really cool place! We love the location. It’s very quiet and peaceful. We had 5 kids staying with us, all under 6. The house was kid friendly in the way there wasn’t a lot of dangerous things for the kids to get into. Which I liked. We spent time exploring within 2 hours of the place and were satisfied with the location. We also loved the little swimming lake down the street from the house. We played there a whole day and it was fast to get back for naps. Overall we loved it and would absolutely come back!

Just outside the village, about 2 km from the house, is the Badesee of Donnersbachwald. This is the perfect place to cool down on a hot summer day.

Which border crossing do you recommend for the approach route?

If you are coming from Belgium, the Netherlands or Germany, we recommend driving into Austria at the border crossing at PASSAU. This will avoid MÜNCHEN. If you drive this way, there is the least chance of traffic jams.

How many parking spaces are there at the property?

There is 1 parking space at the house. If you arrive with more cars than the number of parking spaces at the chalet, we kindly ask you to park them in the general car park at the ski slope. This is to prevent parked cars from making optimal snow clearance impossible.

How big and extensive is the on-site supermarket?

We recommend doing your shopping on the way to the holiday home. The local supermarket is small and open for a limited time.

Is it possible to hire a bathrobe or sauna towel on site?

It is possible to rent a bathrobe and/or sauna towel from the caretaker. Ask for the possibilities and rates on site

Will there be a BBQ?

Yes, there is a BBQ on site. However, you may need to clean the grill yourself before use.

Tip from the homeowner

Our chalet is located on the outer edge of the park. We have a lovely sunny terrace of 9x5 meters realized with unobstructed views of the mountains. The terrace is equipped with a cozy dining area and a BBQ. On the other side of the chalet is a terrace where you can enjoy the last rays of the sun until late in the afternoon.

Donnersbachwald is a perfect ski resort for families with children. Take a trip down the 3.5 km long toboggan run which leads directly into the village!
