The idyllic mountain village of Hohentauern is located at 1,274 metres above sea level on the Triebener-Tauern Pass in the Rottenmanner Tauern in Styria. The region offers a breathtaking panorama, in which numerous mountain lakes, small waterfalls and caves are hidden. Hohentauern is the perfect place to experience the diversity of the Alps, and is an absolute insider tip as it offers everything you need for a mountain holiday in Austria.
Hohentauern offers countless signposted hiking trails, marked mountain bike trails, various motorbike passes, marked winter hiking trails and snowshoe tours, ski touring routes, a toboggan run and a small, uncrowded ski area. Leisure sports enthusiasts will feel right at home, and this winter sports region is also ideal for families with children.
Cross-country skiers can explore the region on a 13 kilometer network of trails with 2 diagonal tracks and a skating track. Whether it's the Großer Bösenstein or the Kerschkern in the nearby Triebental valley - many beautiful ski tours await you around Hohentauern. Ski and snowboard enthusiasts will find family-friendly slopes in the Ski Hohentauern ski area, from the middle station at 1550 meters above or from the summit at 1800 metres above sea level, you can ski down to the valley on 11 kilometers of perfectly snow-covered and groomed slopes whilst enjoying a fantastic mountain panorama.
Other ski areas in the region include the Riesneralm family ski area in Donnersbachwald with 30 kilometers of slopes and the Kreischberg/Murau ski area with 42 kilometers of first-class groomed slopes and the Lachtal ski area with 36 kilometers of slopes.

This therme offers several indoor and outdoor pools on 3 levels, a varied sauna world with a Finnish panorama sauna, steam bath and infrared cabins and a lovely children's area. Another therme in the Murtal holiday region is the Grimming Therme in Bad Mitterndorf with 3 indoor and 4 outdoor pools, relaxation areas on 5 levels, a separate children's area and a sauna village. This therme offers impressive views of the Grimming massif and can be reached by car in around 40 minutes
Whether on the trampoline, in the climbing and sliding area or playing laser tag, the Playworld play and trampoline world in Spielberg, which is the largest indoor leisure park in Austria, offers fun for children of all ages and can be reached in around 30 minutes by car.
