The skiing area of Kitzbühel-Kirchberg
Kirchberg and Kitzbühel, together with their neighbouring villages, lie like a chain around the ski area in the Kitzbühel Alps. Both villages are popular for a winter sports holiday in Austria. There is always something to do. The combination of a beautiful ski area and a vibrant après-ski ensures that many winter sports enthusiasts return here every year. The ski area is situated in between mountain peaks. The mountains are decorated with coniferous forests that treat you to beautiful views and beautiful panoramas during a downhill run. The grassy slopes that reach to the top ensure that a small layer of snow is enough for good skiing or snowboarding. This medium-sized ski resort with 170 kilometres of slopes is a perfect destination for ski trips from village to village. You can choose between blue and red pistes.
The advanced skier can enjoy the many steep runs and ski routes in Kitzbühel. Beautiful tiefschnee slopes that you, as an experienced skier, should not miss are the Zweitausender, Hochsaukaser, Steinbergkogel and Pengelstein. The Mausefalle on the Streif is quite steep. Every year the Hahnenkammrennen takes place here as well.
Snowboarders and freestylers also get their money's worth in the ski areas of the Kitzbüheler Alpen. There are several snow- and fun parks. You will find a suitable challenge for every level and age.
‘Are you curious about the rest of the Kitzbüheler Alpen? Then buy the extensive ski pass, Allstarcard. This will even give you access to the neighbouring ski area, Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental. Between Kirchberg and Aschau is the Ki-West gondola. This gondola takes you directly to the slopes of Brixen im Thale and Westendorf. You can reach Brixen im Thale in less than 10 minutes by ski bus or car. There you take the gondola to the 280 kilometres of interconnected slopes of Skiwelt' provides our rental expert Pepijn as a tip from his own experience.
In Kirchberg and Kitzbühel beginners or reboarders can use the free practice lifts in the valley. Once on top of the mountain there are as many blue and red slopes. This allows both the beginner and the advanced skier to get off to a good start. There are 56 modern ski lifts and gondolas that provide a perfect connection with minimal waiting times. Nearly 100 kilometres of pistes are equipped with snow cannons to keep the snow conditions optimal. On the outskirts of the village are two gondolas that take you to the white slopes of Kirchberg and Kitzbühel. Here you can park your car for a fee.
Would you like something other than a day of skiing? Then try a fatbike tour. You ride through the thick snow accompanied by a guide on a kind of mountain bike with very thick tires. You can make beautiful trips both uphill and downhill. Furthermore, you can go archery or make a snowmobile tour. For hikers there are 45 kilometres of hiking trails.
The picturesque Kirchberg
Between the high mountains lies the village, Kirchberg, covered under a blanket of snow. In the middle of the village, a medieval church peaks above it. The church is surrounded by atmospheric and illuminated shopping streets. You can walk here with your loved one and feel the creaking snow under your feet. Snoop around in the souvenir shops where you will be kindly helped. Take a romantic sleigh ride together while you hum... 'let it snow, let it snow, let it snow'.
‘Stay in a luxury apartment in the centre or just outside the centre of Kirchberg. Enjoy the comfort the house has to offer. Get fresh rolls every morning from the local bakery and enjoy a delicious breakfast together. In the evening make a delicious dinner for two and light the candles. Prefer to eat somewhere else? Then you have come to the right place in Kirchberg. You will find a variety of restaurants here. Enjoy the freedom that our properties have to offer. Would you like more information about an apartment suitable for two? Feel free to ask, our team of experts will be happy to help you’ advises Pepijn, the purchaser of holiday apartments in Kirchberg.
Kirchberg has grown a lot but has managed to keep its cosy character. As a result, the ski village is also loved by families with children, groups and the experienced skier.
Kirchberg is known for its après ski. It starts here late in the afternoon at the Fleckalm and ends in the early hours of the morning in the village itself. The most famous bars not to be missed are the Boomerang, the Eisbar, Heidi & Peter and Der Tiroler. Have a drink here, clear your throat and sing along to the famous "après-ski hits".
The mundane Kitzbühel
After a sporty day with your friends in the mountains you return to your cosy group home. After preparing a tasty meal in the fully equipped kitchen, you will have a cosy get-together at the table. You talk about the day and laugh at each other's bloopers and experiences on the slopes. How wonderful it is to be together. Winter sports is not just sports but above all a friendly and sociable atmosphere with each other.
Take a gamble together in the casino of Kitzbühel. Are you lucky? Then you can spend an afternoon shopping in the fashionable shopping centre with the money you have won. In the evening you can go tobogganing together on the illuminated toboggan run on the Gaisberg. Thirsty? In Kitzbühel you will find a vibrant nightlife. Experience the après-ski that suits you. Do you like lounging and relaxing with a cocktail in your hand? Or are you more into dancing to the famous German 'Schlagers'? There is something for everyone here.
Kitzbühel is also the setting for the annual spectacular Hahnenkamm race. One of the most difficult races on a world level. The notorious and feared descents of 'the Streif' are the highlight here. Would you like to attend this impressive event? Book the third week of January in your calendar. Many celebrities will be spotted in the stands. Maybe you will meet them during a night out!
‘Already fancy a winter sports holiday with your friends, family or colleagues? Let us inform you about our group houses. Let us know the wishes of your group. We will be happy to look along with you for a suitable group home. If you are with children, the location in relation to the slopes is important. If you are with a group of friends, the nightlife might play a bigger role. Please let us know. We like to think along with you' says Pepijn, who is not only a rental expert, but also the owner of various group houses.

Aschau
This village is located in the countryside and is the centre of the Kitzbühel Alps. It is about 8 kilometres from Kirchberg and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. There is a practice and children's lift. For more fun in the snow take the Ki-West lift to Westendorf or the Pengelstein-I to the ski area of Kitzbühel. Are you an advanced skier? Then you can end the day with a steep black valley run to the village. For the cross-country skiers there is a 4-km-long snow-assured cross-country trail. Winter hiking in the sun with a clear blue sky and a magnificent view of the Grosse Rettenstein (2,363 meters) is an experience you should not miss. Enjoy your winter holiday here in peace and quiet.
Hollersbach
Hollersbach is an old and quiet mountain village founded in 1160 AD. It is located on the edge of the Hohe Tauern Nature Park and has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. The nature around the village is particularly impressive. You will find playful streams, lakes and waterfalls. A delight for the nature lover who loves hiking and never gets tired of it. The Panorama Railway takes you to the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps.
Aurach
This Tyrolean farming village with a lovely church is only 4 kilometres from Kitzbühel. From the village there are regular ski buses to the ski area of the Kitzbühel Alps. From here, head down the 4.5-kilometre long toboggan run on the Kelchalm. On the outskirts of the village there is a wildlife park with as many as 250 Alpine animals. Admire the cunning lynx and the capricorn jumping from rock to rock in a resilient manner.
Jochberg
This small, elongated village is located 10 kilometres from Kitzbühel on the main road to Pass Thurn. The richly decorated baroque church is the eye-catcher of the village. The wooden chalets and farmhouses create an authentic and cosy atmosphere. Do you prefer a cosy and less fancy place and especially like a winter sports holiday in nature? Then you will feel right at home here.
Pass Thurn
This hotel village lies on the mountain pass of the same name and is also called Passthurn. The mountain pass is a through road connecting the provinces of Tyrol and Salzburgerland. Due to its high altitude of 1,273 metres, even in winters where there is little snow, there is often snow right up to the front door. There is a large car park on the slopes. From here you have direct quick access to the large ski area of Kitzbühel-Kirchberg.
They know what children love here
Together in the fresh air, playing sports with your children, in a lovely white layer of snow. Exercising and relaxing at the same time. Exactly this is what makes a winter in the mountains a dream holiday.

New Fleckalmbahn
From December 2019 the new Fleckalmbahn will be in use. Compared to the previous gondola, this is a big step forward. The lift is less sensitive to wind and meets the most modern requirements. With leather and heated seats, it is a pleasure to be transported with the 10 person gondolas. The ride up and down is also much faster than before. The larger capacity means that you do not have to wait as long. The valley and mountain stations have also been completely renovated and have been given a slightly different location.
In the ski area Kitzbühel-Kirchberg they continue to work to provide good comfort for winter athletes. Every year they look at what is needed and make plans for improvements.
